This was announced by the First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, in an interview on the program ‘Al Rojo Vivo’ on La Sexta.

The Minister of Economic Affairs has pointed out that these grants are in addition to others, such as the launch of the second generation of calls for grants for the strategic project of electric and connected vehicles (Perte VEC), with over 800 million euros for battery plants.

On Monday, the government opened the application window for the first line of the second call for proposals for the Strategic Project for the Recovery and Economic Transformation of Electric and Connected Vehicles (Perte VEC), aimed at supporting battery production projects.

This first line of the second call, which will be available until September 15, is endowed with 837 million euros, of which 550 million are in grants and the remaining 287 million in the form of loans.

Among the main novelties of Perte VEC II is the resolution of projects on a first-come, first-served basis.

There is also the possibility of submitting individual projects instead of being part of a larger project.

Furthermore, according to the Official State Gazette (BOE), the maximum amount of aid that a company producing batteries, their components, and related raw materials can receive is up to 300 million euros.

In this regard, the grants will range from 150 million to 300 million euros for investments in the battery field, depending on whether they are made in assisted areas, while the aid for essential components will not exceed 100 million euros.

For raw materials, the amount will not exceed 25 million euros. The deadline for granting these awards to beneficiaries is December 31, 2025.

In the coming days, the second call for proposals will be published, focusing on the value chain of electric and connected vehicles, following the publication of the Category Exemption Regulation by the European Union.

«This would be impossible without the European funds, which are allowing us to launch future projects,» highlighted the Vice President, while emphasizing the «unprecedented» investments that have recently been announced in Spain in the field of microchips.

Calviño: «We have addressed all the pending issues»

Calviño highlighted that in these five years of the legislature, the government has carried out an unprecedented reform program in the country, working alongside social agents and the European Union. «We have addressed all the pending issues after a lost decade under the Popular Party,» she emphasized.

Among these reforms, the Minister of Economic Affairs highlighted labor market reform, pension reform, education reform, science reform, and the promotion of startups, which have created «a very favorable framework for attracting foreign projects.»

«We have the opportunity to consider a legislature of progress and fundamental advancement for the future of our country, for the younger generations, and that is what we should be discussing in this election campaign, and I believe it will lead Spanish citizens to give majority support to Pedro Sánchez’s project,» she emphasized.
